Assistant Rating Specialist - Portsmouth. This position provides a full range of rating and servicing of Property and Casualty insurance policies per program underwriting guidelines, internal standards and deadlines.

Assistant Rating Specialist - Portsmouth
- Reviews New Business/Renewal applications, renewal instructions, and requests for policy changes to verify all pertinent information to produce accurate quotes, policies, and endorsements
- Obtain missing rating information by utilizing all resources provided (i.e. ISO fire rates & rules, Sage, internet, co-workers etc.)
- Perform calculations to produce accurate and timely quotes and premium charges by using carrier rating systems, and other rating sources provided by company
- Create and maintain rating manuals
- Review and implement carrier bulletins and release notes
- Manage own work assignments to meet the company’s service standards and delivery metrics
- Provide training and quality review as assigned
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned programs/tasks, monitor progress, and report to the Rating Manager as required
- Perform other responsibilities, as assigned
Requirements:
- Attention to details is critical for this position
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools (including Word and Excel)
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to take direction from multiple sources (Underwriters, supervisors, and other senior positions) and handle multiple priorities
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and frequently exercise initiative, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred
- Preferred but not required: rating and/or commercial insurance experience or basic knowledge of property and casualty insurance
- Preferred: Certificate in General Insurance (AINS – Intro, Ethics, INS21, INS22, INS23) or ability to obtain one within the first year of hire
- Preferred knowledge of property and casualty insurance coverages and rating principals
