Residential Underwriter: Description & Duties
The Inland Marine Underwriter is responsible for risk selection, pricing, and broker negotiation on new and renewal business. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all company files meet the policy and guidelines set forth by the company as well as all regulatory guidelines. This role reports to the President, Residential.

Pursuant to Illinois State regulation, the salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000, and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze new and renewal business; manage and control underwriting exposure and pricing strategy consistent with company product guidelines and profitability objectives.
- Perform Peer reviews as assigned
- Possess a mastery of product segment, with constant improvement through proactive development via external & internal training
- Subject Matter Expertise & Training: Mentoring and training UA and UW team members, assist internal team or external customer with inquiries
- Contribute to ongoing product development and continuous improvement of processes
- Market the Company’s products and services to the Broker community, Risk Managers, and Clients
- Collaborate with internal colleagues to deliver value propositions to brokers & clients, cross-marketing, and training objectives.
- Cultivate and grow trusting, mutually profitable relationships with Broker community and carrier partners
- Represent the company at networking functions and other industry-related events that present and promote company initiatives to external constituencies as appropriate.
- Work with the Inland Marine, SVP to refine and improve policy forms
- Work with our IT, Operations and Finance teams, as needed, to drive operational efficiency and ensure the best possible service to our brokers and insureds
- Maintain knowledge and insight into market trends, competitor behavior and broker practices

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, statistics, or related field and/or 5-10 years of experience in the E&S Commercial Property lines as a broker or underwriter
Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
