Amwins Group, Inc. is seeking an adaptable and detail-oriented individual to join our lively Client Services Team as a Surplus Lines Tax Analyst.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching and implementing compliance changes with each state’s surplus lines requirements.
- Monitoring open filings (i.e., pipeline) of assigned states to ensure filings are actioned timely and accurately by Surplus Lines Tax Specialists
- Monitoring filing and payment due dates to ensure work is completed accurately and timely. This may also include:
- Auditing completed transactions/reports to identify improvement opportunities
- Conducting team training
- Resolving problems with urgency with surplus lines team members, production teams and state department inquiries, as appropriate; proactively escalating to leaders, as needed
- Facilitating state audits
- Processing surplus lines transactions for assigned states, within state deadlines.
- Completing and submitting tax reports on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and/or annual basis; involves running reports, verifying data for accuracy, reconciling data and resolving discrepancies timely, processing payment requests, submitting and paying before deadlines.
- Updating transactions in Amwins filing management system with each tax filing status.
- Updating internal filing/payment tracker tool with comments and status on each upcoming tax payment, and scanning, uploading the completed report and necessary documentation on completed payments.
- Coordinating with and backing up the Surplus Lines Tax Specialists.
- Participate in projects and other assignments, as needed.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of insurance industry is required - admitted vs. non-admitted markets, coverages, complex brokerage accounts (e.g., multi-participant policies and insurers, U.S. vs Non-U.S.)
- Knowledge of tax filing requirements in multiple states (subject matter expert) is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, including reconciliation of filed transactions between Amlink and applicable state billing reports, with timely clearing of any discrepancies
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively with strong initiative and work well under pressure
- Exceptional customer service and problem-resolution skills of intermediate scope and complexity
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to travel, as needed
