Position Summary
The Amwins Underwriter L.A.U.N.C.H Program is an education and training program hosted by the Amwins Underwriting division. Participants will take part in an intensive three-month training to gain a deep knowledge of the insurance industry, underwriting practices, and the Amwins organization. This program helps candidates develop a variety of professional skills while providing opportunities to network across multiple facets of the organization. For a highly motivated individual, the education and exposure in this program will support a candidate’s desire to excel in his or her underwriting career.
The training program will be hosted in Charlotte, NC, where Amwins is based. Participants will be provided housing during the three-month training. After training in Charlotte, the participant will relocate to their respective operating company location. Participants will be expected to travel two to three times a year to Charlotte, NC, or other Amwins offices for additional training over the next few years.
Upon graduation of the three-month program, the candidate will move into an entry level underwriting support role within the American Equity Underwriters (AEU) in Mobile, AL.

Duties will include:
- Participates with Account Executives/Underwriters in the renewal and new business activities that support marketing and underwriting decisions that are consistent with business unit growth and retention goals.
- Partners with Account Executives/Underwriters to establish support needs for new and renewal policies (i.e., identify/gather relevant account information to quote and/or bind the policy; create exhibits, etc.)
- Participates in pre-renewal meetings to define assignments.
- Prepares underwriting/pricing exhibits (i.e., exposures, experience rating, profit and loss analysis, expense models, updated account information, etc.).
- Manages account documentation (i.e., proposals, agreement letters, reinsurance contracts, collateral agreements, policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, etc.).
- Ensures accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts.
