Job Overview
The health and safety manager performs various functions in ensuring the company adheres to safety regulations in the workplace. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards. This position is responsible for identifying, developing and conducting training classes for the company.
Duties
Conduct monthly worker training in areas of safety regulations, hazardous condition and use of safety equipment
Maintain knowledge of current policies, regulations and industrial processes
Lead the investigation of safety events, compile report of findings, and recommend corrective action
Perform hazard assessments including job hazard assessments and audits, prepare recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards
Review and report findings from facilities inspection and environment testing
Establish and maintain activity files, prepare reports and make recommendations relative to safety policies and procedures
Develop and present approved safety policies, guidelines and procedures for onboarding of new employees
SDS (Safety Data Sheet) update, audit and ongoing maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· Required to understand and communicate in English
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, or Engineering OR Occupational Hygiene Safety Technician (OHST) certification
· 3-5 years’ experience in safety/training role
· Experience in a manufacturing and industrial setting
· Travel and/ or extended off hours may be required
· Hands on approach with employee interaction
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have be able to work alone as well in a team setting, be detailed oriented and well organized
Possess a valid NYS drivers’ license

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
