Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations of patients with psychiatric conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Assist in the management of patients' physical health needs, including ostomy care when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in psychiatric nursing.
- Uphold safety standards within the workplace, including proper lifting techniques and emergency response protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS).
Experience
- Previous experience in psychiatric nursing or related fields is preferred, particularly within assisted living or ambulatory surgery settings.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law is a plus.
- Proficiency in internal medicine practices as they relate to mental health care is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a patient-centered approach to care.
