Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Clinical Informatics Coordinator in Anaheim, CA. The Clinical Informatics Coordinator will work as part of the informatics team to evaluate and improve the EMR by being an expert on the user-facing functionality of the existing system and its limitations. The Clinical Informatics Associate will report and operate under the guidance of the Director of Health Informatics.   • Collaborate with staff to understand needs through actively seeking their feedback shadowing their workflows, and creating effective improvements in the workflows, training opportunities and system enhancements.
  • Evaluate and implement EMR functionality to assist with improving end-user experience and efficiency.
  • Assist in gap analysis, identifying current unmet needs from EMR for area of support to determine whether current system provides that functionality or if another EMR system may better answer needs.
  • Support staff training on the EMR.
  • Identify needs for additional EMR functionality and formatting.
  • Clearly understand and support administrative direction and carry out the vision and decisions of upper management in the centers so that staff gain understanding and buy-in into changes to practice.
  • Undertakes ad-hoc assignments as required to react quickly and positively to new or emergent situations.    Non-Essential Functions :

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Professional-level certification from an accredited organization in informatics, health information technology, or a relevant clinical or business specialty is required within 2 years of hire.   Minimum Education :
  • High school graduate or completion of GED.
  • College graduate preferred.   Minimum Work Experience :
  • Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare experience, preferably in designated area of support
  • Qualifying healthcare-related experience categories include : (1) Non-licensed (i.e., medical records management, front office, billing, scheduling, IT support for a healthcare organization, etc.) (2) Entry-level licensure (i.e., MA, CNA, phlebotomist)
  • Strong understanding of healthcare / clinical operations   Other Requirements :
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with designated area of support
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to apply expertise to problems and / or optimize existing processes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
  • Must maintain the high level of confidentiality required for this role.
  • Ability to learn and train on new systems and adapt to new processes.
  • Demonstrate high level of customer service to external customers (e.g., patients) and internal customers (e.g., staff and Office of Compliance) in processing confidential records and data in accordance with required deadlines. Maintain professional and welcoming demeanor at all times.
  • Demonstrate mature judgment, initiative, and critical thinking.
  • Must be able to work independently and follow through on all details of projects and tasks.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with leadership and all levels of colleagues, including users and non-users of the EHR required.   Agency Standard Requirements :

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high-level computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.
