What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Safety and Risk Management position at Anakeesta?
Anakeesta is seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Safety and Risk Management who will be responsible for ensuring that Anakeesta maintains the highest standards of safety and compliance. This role will oversee our insurance programs, manage worker compensation claims, and ensure that all facilities meet safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Drives the safety culture of the properties
- Handle all aspects of workers’ compensation, from initial claim file to case management to return-to-work programs.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments throughout the park to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Collaborate with all departments to identify safety risks and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
- Partner with department heads to ensure safety standards are effectively implemented
- Develop risk management strategies and policies to minimize potential hazards
- Prepare reports and present safety findings and improvements to senior management
- Stay up to date with new legislation and regulations relevant to the amusement park industry as well as OSHA/ASTM/NAARSO regulations.
- Manage and oversee the company’s general liability claims management
- Responsible for operating certificates and compliance with annual ride/ other inspections
- Leading and developing a team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Business Administration or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the amusement park, hospitality or a related industry
- Minimum of 3 years proven leadership experience
- Strong working knowledge of insurance policies and coverage details, especially in relation to general liability and workers’ compensation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Microsoft Office suite proficiency
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 50 lbs.; can push, pull, grasp, lift, kneel, stoop, climb, balance, crouch, crawl and stand for long periods of time.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking on uneven ground
