Summary of Position: The Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services (QMHP-CS) is responsible for providing Targeted Case Management and Rehabilitative Services to youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families. As a QMHP, you will be responsible for providing strengths-based training utilizing an evidence-based curriculum that will help develop and build skills that will help the adult or child have a more successful existence. The QMHP will work with our Case Manager to provide the following services: Skill Training & Development, Medication Training & Support Services and Crisis Intervention Services. The QMHP will implement the Service/Treatment Plan that is focused on the adult or child and family needs and recognizing their strengths. The plan will address all the client’s needs that have been identified by the adult, family, child and any collateral information.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in social/human services, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related field is required.
· Ability to obtain QMHP-CS is required.
· Minimum of 4 years of experience in human services.
· Experience with children ages 3-17 years and adults ages 18-80.
· Experience in conducting diagnostic evaluations and psychosocial assessments preferred.
· Working knowledge of mental health and substance abuse services and needs.
· Clear understanding of normal and atypical childhood development and adult development.
· Must have strong computer operating skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
· Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, a good driving record for the past three years, and personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas.
Must be able to pass drug screening and background screening.
Must have access to computer and internet, cell phone, must have basic computer skills. (Laptop or access to a computer and printer outside of office use)
QMHP Responsibilities
As the QMHP your key responsibilities will involve:
· Gather pertinent information to complete a psychosocial history and diagnostic assessment. Assessments will be conducted face to face as well as utilizing a tele-video system for multiple sites.
· Determine levels of need and types of services required based on information obtained.
· Accurately complete a uniform assessment to identify an individual’s needs and strengths as appropriate.
· Assessments may require utilization of counseling skills, problem-solving techniques, and brief crisis intervention to support individuals being assessed.
· Must utilize concurrent documentation to meet documentation requirements.
· Review previous mental health documentation in electronic health records or as provided by the individual.
· Provide community referrals as needed.
· Communicate with referring entities and internal providers.
· Ability to have a flexible work schedule while demonstrating effective time management to meet the needs of prospective clients.
· Travel between locations as assigned.
· Ability to participate respectively as a team member during department and agency meetings.
· Participate in data collection activities and peer review processes as requested.
· Limited Utilization Management activities as needed.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Responsible for providing skill building training in the office, home or out in the community: one-on-one skills sessions at home, at the office, or in the community relating to goals and objectives using evidence-based practices and curriculums.
- Provides support and crisis/emergency services for the child/family through face-to-face contact, phone contact or availability by an on-call system (all time spent on crisis assessment and planning, crisis linkage and follow-up, and stabilization must be documented as crisis hours)
- Notes are due within 24 hours of the service date.
- Utilize effective listening skills to establish rapport with client, family members and other individuals close to the client; provide emotional support and encouragement and engage family members in the service process.
- This is not a work from home or virtual position.
- The hours of the position are from 10 am to 7:00 PM in the office.
- The required work locations are Southwest Houston, Sugarland, Missouri City, Richmond, Manvel, Rosenberg and Pearland. If you are not looking to work in these areas, please do not apply for this job.
- Must be willing to travel as needed.
- Strict office cell phone policy
- Case load 8-10 clients in office daily

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
