Job Description:

AMA is looking for a talented software systems developer to join our Urban Air Mobility (UAM) development and integration team in support of NASA aeronautics research and the Safety-Critical Avionics Systems Branch at NASA Langley Research Center. The UAM team develops and maintains a suite of research software components and services for UAM operations. This software suite is used for simulating complex concepts of operation in support of NASA’s vision of UAM: a safe and efficient air transportation system functioning on top of populated areas, supporting a wide range of flights from logistics-supporting to passenger-carrying airborne mobility. AMA is looking for a software developer with a diverse set of skills to join this team to support NASA research  

This is an on-site position at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Work in a highly collaborative in-person environment.

  • Perform research on Urban Air Mobility operations.

  • Maintain and deploy large-scale simulation systems on Linux and Windows using Java, C , Python, Node.js and Typescript.

  • Analyze end-user requirements, perform software design and implementation.

  • Develop and deploy distributed applications locally and on the Cloud   

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS or higher in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Proficiency in rapid prototyping for software development.

  • Proficiency in the JavaScript or TypeScript languages with Node.js.

  • Experience developing and maintaining distributed simulation software.

  • Experience in software development for research on Urban Air Mobility and/or other autonomous systems.

  • Java, Python languages, and C, C (> 11).

  • Experience with the Git version control system.

  • Software design, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and run-time analysis.

  • Must be able to work within a collaborative development environment   

 

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to facility requirements.
