Job Description:
The successful candidate will provide engineering analysis services including the creation, editing, analysis, and correlation of finite element models of impact dynamics events in support of the ongoing research and engineering projects in the NASA Langley Research Center Structural Dynamics Branch.
The work will include creating models in the explicit finite element analysis package LS-DYNA from scratch, based on drawings, from three-dimensional scans, or from other customer models of various types of impact dynamics events including but not limited to aircraft crashes or landings, spacecraft water splashdowns, and interaction and impact with solids, soils, water, ice, and regolith on Earth and other planetary bodies.
The successful candidate will analyze and interpret simulation results to compare them with empirical results and improve model fidelity and be present for experiments for which they are building LS-DYNA models.
The work will need to be documented in presentation formats, reports, and technical memos and the successful candidate will present their work to internal NASA groups, project leadership, and customers at project meetings, branch meetings, and design reviews as requested by project managers.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD Structural Engineering
- Demonstrated experience using LS-Dyna.
