What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Director position at Anastasia Baptist Church?
Position Overview:
The Communications Director is a full-time ministry staff position which will create, organize,
plan, and implement effective communication messages and strategies; support church and
ministry leaders within the overall Anastasia Church community (specifically the Anastasia
Island location) in conveying their vision and communications priorities to internal and external
audiences; and ensure brand consistency across platforms including digital, print, social media,
and public relations, etc. They will recruit, train, coordinate and lead a team of volunteers to
execute the communications strategy. The Communications Director shall work under the
supervision of the Worship and Production Pastor.
Requirements:
The communications director must be a mature, committed Christian who is willing to
be a member of Anastasia Church and commit to its strategies to connect, disciple, and
go.
He or she should be able to fulfill the Anastasia Church mission of “helping people
embrace the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ” as it relates to communications.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in marketing leadership roles, preferable within the nonprofit or
church ministry arena.
Proficient in digital marketing platforms and analytic tools.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite for creation of visual assets.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Creative problem-solving abilities and an innovative approach to marketing challenges.
Responsibilities:
1. CONNECT church ministries with our diverse community by developing and implementing
innovative communication plans to ensure the Anastasia Church message effectively
resonates with individuals from various backgrounds and walks of life.
2. CONNECT with the church family and community by creating and maintaining a welcoming
and informative digital presence, including the church website, social media channels, and
online community platforms.
3. CONNECT and collaborate with ministry leaders by promoting church events, services, and
programs through social media, email newsletters, church bulletin, church website,
platform announcements, special events, campus development, as well as all ongoing
communication efforts to the church.
4. Help ministry leaders CONNECT within their groups by facilitating clear communications and
by providing resources for building stronger connections.
5. DISCIPLE the church family by crafting and disseminating communication materials that
facilitate spiritual growth. These might include prayer guides, devotionals, and educational
resources.
6. Facilitate a high-quality standard of DISCIPLE-MAKING by collaborating with pastors and
teaching teams to ensure consistent messaging that aligns with moral and spiritual
teachings of Anastasia Church.
7. DISCIPLE a volunteer communications team and invest in their communications skill
development and their spiritual growth. The Communications Director will lead this team
and provide guidance, support, and training as needed.
8. DISCIPLE to GO by developing communication strategies to mobilize church members for
local and global outreach, encouraging them to actively participate in missions and
community service.
9. CONNECT the church by highlighting and celebrating stories of individuals and groups who
are making a positive impact in their communities, both within and beyond the church, with
the intent that these will encourage the GOING of individuals into service.
10. CONNECT with church leaders and coordinate and collaborate with production, design,
media, and content creation to produce visually appealing and engaging communication
materials that reflect the essence of Anastasia Church.
11. Ensure effective CONNECTING by utilizing data analytics tools to measure the effectiveness
of communication strategies and by regularly evaluating the impact of various campaigns
and adjusting tactics as necessary.
12. CONNECT with leadership by providing reports and insight on communication performance
and engagement metrics.
Other Ministry Duties
13. CONNECT with other staff members by attending weekly church staff meetings Tuesday
mornings.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Worship and Production Pastor.
Ministry Privileges
15. Communications director may attend two training events per year at church expense.
16. The communications director may be absent one week per year to participate in an activity
of another church or agency for which remuneration is received.
