Position Overview :
The Behavioral Health Nurse Director is responsible to oversee the Behavioral Health nursing staff and ensure the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care within our locked inpatient treatment program. In collaboration with the Behavioral Health team, the Behavioral Health Nurse Director fosters a culture of patient-centered nursing care and ensures that the delivery of that care meets all of the federal, state and local regulatory requirements, standards and guidelines for the facility.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Clinical Oversight : Supervise nursing staff in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to residents in a locked psychiatric setting.
- Staff Management : Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational policies. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development.
- Resident Care Coordination : Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for residents, ensuring that their physical and mental health needs are met.
- Policy Implementation : Develop and enforce nursing protocols and procedures in accordance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Crisis Management : Lead and participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and residents.
- Quality Assurance : Monitor patient care outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
- Documentation : Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care activities, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations, in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Education and Training : Provide ongoing training and education to nursing staff on psychiatric best practices, medication management, and therapeutic communication.
