Job Summary:
The Cardiac Progressive Care Registered Nurse (CVU RN) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions in a progressive care unit. They monitor patients, administer medications, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and provide education to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing patients' cardiac status and identifying any abnormalities or changes
- Monitoring cardiac rhythms and vital signs
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to develop care plans
- Educating patients and their families on cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures
- Performing various technical procedures such as cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and wound care
- Responding to emergencies and providing immediate interventions as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a cardiac care setting
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology
