We’re looking for a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead an outstanding engineering team. The successful candidate will have a strong management and technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering projects in a growth mode environment.
Development projects include overseeing the development of Ancestry’s logged-in home page, integrating with multiple high profile data sources, providing visual support for site-wide notifications, and building with the latest web-based technologies.

What You Will Do
- Work with product management to understand the business goals for each software release
- Manage an outstanding team of software engineers (including offshore engineers) delivering new functionality, updates, and maintenance releases
- Continuously coordinate with web design, product management, engineering operations, and QA, engaging teams at the appropriate times
- Anticipate project blockers and help form remediation plans (before the project and delivery timelines suffer)
- Provide hands-on help in architecting, designing, implementing, deploying, and documenting software applications and services
- Help establish quality methodologies, metrics, and standards to track and improve the engineering productivity
- Mentor and recruit top talent for the engineering team.
- 10 years of professional experience in software development
- 3 years managing development teams and projects
- Experience and ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced product environment
- History of successfully delivering continuous software releases using Agile development methodologies (such as Scrum)
- Ability to delve into a technical problem and drive the solution personally if the need arises
- Experience working in a distributed development environment with engineers, product management, and QA in other geographies
- Working knowledge of common Web Technologies such as NodeJS, React, JavaScript, XSLTs, and Open Source
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, Master’s degree is a plus

Salary : $139,230 - $174,060
