Server Job Description
Position Summary – This position is responsible for delivering hospitality to our guests with genuine and personable conversation. This position is critical to our guests’ overall experience at the Anchor Bar Restaurant. Servers are the face of our restaurant and responsible for our customers' experiences. Servers are responsible to learn Anchor Bar’s history to share with customers. This position is responsible to have full knowledge of the Anchor Bar menu and the ability to answer questions about the items on the menu.
Reports to: Management Team
Responsibilities:
- Properly greets customers within 1 minutes of being seated.
- Has a full knowledge of the Anchor Bar and it’s history.
- Has full working knowledge of the Anchor Bar menu, bar menu and the ability to answer customers’ questions about items on the menu.
- Suggestive sells drinks, appetizers, desserts, etc. Uses salesmanship to increase check averages.
- Takes accurate orders from customers and accurately enters them in the POS System in a timely manner.
- Always writes down and then repeats customers’ orders back to them for accuracy.
- Supports all Anchor Bar Rewards Programs & Marketing Initiatives.
- Enters orders into POS and communicates with the kitchen and bartender regarding orders.
- Accurately inputs all drink and food orders. Communicates effectively with all team members.
- Visually checks and verifies IDs to determine customers’ legal age. Upholds state and local liquor laws.
- Ensures all food and drinks served are within Anchor Bar standards of quality and freshness.
- Serves customers in a professional and courteous manner making recommendations when necessary.
- Provides teamwork and support to other team members. Assists other servers and other team members whenever needed.
- Maintained a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Thanks customers as they are leaving with a genuine tone and smile.
- Informs the manager on duty of any customer needs or issues.
- Works as a team player with the Front of the House, Back of the House, Management Team and Owner(s).
- Perform all opening, daily shift checklist and closing duties accurately as assigned.
- Perform any job function requested by the management team
Qualifications
- Adaptability & Flexibility – Adapts to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities. Works well with a variety of situations, individuals, groups, and varying customer needs.
- Attention to Detail – Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks

- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift heavy items.
- Previous serving experience (1 year required)
- Previous bartending experience (1 year required, if interested in cross-training)
