Hours : 8 hours per day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Salary : Per Bargaining Agreement

Qualificiations :

  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to effectively operate instructional software such as PowerSchool.
  • Excellent knowledge and ability to use word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills with a good command of the English language both oral and written.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Demonstrated history of exemplary customer service skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work professionally with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Have demonstrated professionalism through good attendance and punctuality during employment history.
  • Have successfully earned a Bachelor or Associate degree from an accredited college or university or have taken the ETS Para Pro Assessment with a score of 460 or higher, as mandated by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Take and pass a district data para test.
  • Demonstrate competency and have ability to oversee medical needs of students, including testing blood sugar level and administering insulin. Training will be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Regular and reliable in person attendance is an essential job function.
  • Demonstrate good customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Collecting information from parents and staff for enrollment.
  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, or optical scanners.
  • Maintaining and updating the database system as necessary.
  • Type in data provided directly from parents and other staff members.
  • Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes.
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents.
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost.
  • Answer phone in a professional manner and forward calls as necessary.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries regarding school programs and activities.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties such as typing, photocopying, making phone calls, creating documents, and data entry.
  • Meet and greet visitors following building security procedures.
  • Assist ill students and contact parents.
  • Assist the Building Advisor and office staff in effective operation of school office and maintain school order.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor or Central Administration.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required talk or hear and sometimes traverse and sit. In case of emergency must be able to traverse about school campus and lead students to safety. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The position frequently requires non-stop typing on the computer. The position requires the individual to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and to interact with the public and other workers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some extended hours are frequently required of the employee.
