Job Summary
Primary Function:To gauge set outs from lehr to determine that glass meets customer specifications and inspect packed ware to determine that ware meets specified AQL level and locate and hold any pallets that do not meet specified criteria. This position is responsible for all quality control aspects for the specific line assigned to.
MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties include but not limited to
- Housekeeping & cleaning
- Reviews product specification and other posted material, limit samples, section reports, line monitor system, etc. to become knowledgeable for the jobs for which the employee is to be responsible.
- Gauges shop no less than every two (2) hours to determine fitness for use. Informs Forming of any and all glass that is defective and does not meet gauge requirements, discards glass that does not meet requirements.
- Inspects quantity of finished goods called for by AQL hourly to determine fitness for use.
- Fills out Packed Ware Report based off this inspection. A minimum of 48 samples per hour to be checked. Refer to T.O.P. 035-9422.
- Authorizes holding pallets for reselect when ware does not meet the quality standards posted for the job.
- Inspects sealing and make up of cases to determine that they are suitable for use.
- Checks Hot and Cold end coatings as required by SOP.
- Performs thermal shock test as Job Specification dictates.
- Performs comparator checks on finishes and bottles as required.
- Performs pressure tests as specified by product specification.
- Keeps work areas clean.
- Responsible for all general safety and house rules, good manufacturing practices and job-specific safety procedures.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Individuals will work a swing shift / rotating shift work involves working 7 consecutive days of an 8am-4pm shift followed by 3 days off, then working 7 consecutive days of a 12mid-8am shift followed by 2 days off and then working 7 consecutive days of a 4pm-12mid shift followed by two days off and then starting back on the 8-4 shift. This amounts to working 21 days with 7 days off in a 28-day cycle.
