All hours over forty in a week are paid at overtime rates.
In the Machine Mechanic Department we work a five (5) days on two (2) days Monday-Friday schedule in order to support the factory. The apprenticeship is for 8,000 hours and experienced mechanical maintenance candidates will have the opportunity to progress quicker in the apprenticeship.
Apprentice Job Change Technician Job Description:
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT: Hydraulic jack, shoplift, ladder, degreaser, cable lift, vise, hoist, grinder, dolly, computer
and similar or equivalent machines and equipment.
GAUGES AND TOOLS: Various wrenches, drill press, small hand tools, ruler, brush, scraper, cutting wheel, tape measure
and similar or equivalent tools. Must have own personal tools as designated by foreman.
PRODUCTS OR MATERIALS: All forming machines, parts, molds, molten glass, semi-finished and finished glass, rags, chalk, grabs,
plungers, hoses, tubing and similar or equivalent products or materials.
WORK GUIDES AND INSTRUCTIONS: Detailed verbal, written instructions. Average blueprints. Job setup card and factory slate.
QUALITY REQUIREMENTS: Inspect, set up, adjust and test forming machines, repair and clean parts and equipment to specifications
established by management.
WORK DESCRIPTION:
- Set up, make adjustments, test run all types of forming machines to include Precision Press Procedures and Methods.
- Repair drag links, tension arms and springs, ring carriers, ring lift cages and spring cages and all other process change parts necessary for various item production.
- Perform machine startup activities.
- Maintain parts inventory in computer and department housekeeping.
- Perform all setup work on the press electronic timers.
- Adjust electronic timers to optimize machine performance.
- Setup and repair of all wind lines and drums.
- Some minor plumbing and fabrication as required by job card.
- Replace and position spot burners or rotating burners by item.
- Perform miscellaneous repair work as required to complete the machine setup.
- Methodically work and solve setup issues.
- Print machine equipment setup sheets from computer and enter data as needed into Hot End Setup.
- Add changes to setups to improve startups.
- Clean parts before restocking.
- Maintain quality housekeeping and good safety practices in the work area.
- Assist Supervisor with sampling process.
