Role Description:
The Mold Shop Supervisor will report to the VP, Manufacturing. Success in the position requires the ability to develop, manage and simplify complex work streams, directing union employees in the Mold Shop, a mastery in project management, and strong communication / leadership skills.
Role Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Strong influencing skills and focus on building relationship equity in a union environment. Ability to lead individuals/teams through all stages of projects, collaborating across multiple levels, functions and organizations (internal and external).
- Supervises the work of a department (focus will be Mold Cleaning area). Recommends hiring of new employees, transfers, terminations, performance management and budget recommendations. Indirect supervision of 40 FTE in department (journey-workers and laborers).
- Responsible for quality and quantity of work. Supervises preparation of glass mold equipment for internal customer to produce glassware. Develops tools and spreadsheets to streamline preparation of mold equipment for glassware.
- Manage systems and procedures to protect departmental assets. Conducts analysis and designs reports to track staffing and financial resources.
- Direct focus of responsibilities to the Mold Cleaning area of the department where mold equipment is prepped and polished before sending to production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/related field or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience manufacturing, engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in Quality and Lean desirable.
- Company/Union work experience.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Ability to lead change and innovation.
- Solid interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution.
- Knowledge of CNC, welding, SolidWorks, and cutting tools desirable.
