Position Summary:
Performs all duties and functions required to generate quality data and provide process feedback to various production departments for optimization. Audits the Pressware Quality systems (Production Audit, Released Ware Audit, Iwaki, etc.) along with performing the necessary functional testing for all product lines. The Quality Dept. is utilizing the concepts of Employee Involvement and participation and execution of team tasks such as activity coordination, problem solving, and decision making are expected team member roles as well as the quality tasks mentioned above. This work includes such duties as:
1) Performs all prescribed visual and dimensional sampling plan inspections and conducts other tests and checks as required at various states of the production process, including quality process audits and surveys. Understands all steps in the production process.
2) Analyzes defects, inspection findings, trends, severity, and frequency of defects to determine source or cause. Provides timely notification to proper personnel of trends and problems to prevent excessive ware loss.
3) Makes judgments on possible corrective measures and suitability of ware for subsequent operations. Determine whether to accept or reject entire lots of ware based on inspection results in any stage of production.
4) Obtains required ware specifications, blueprints, samples, gauges, and equipment necessary to inspect assigned ware types. Is proficient in the setup and use of a wide variety of Q.C. equipment, e.g., dial indicators, micrometers, inspection fixtures, salt bath, drop tester, rim impactor, color testers, microscope, etc.
5) May interpolate or determine quality requirements not specifically covered in available information.
6) Records findings on prescribed forms, computer graphs and charts. May analyze accumulated data and summarize and report results.
7) Coordinates departmental tasks such as overtime tracking and distribution, scheduling of activity, routine communications, etc.
8) May be called upon to perform a function that results in the generation of hazardous waste, and therefore may be required to attend relevant RCRA training.
Primary Responsibilities:
1) Perform roller and mold evaluations
2) Read skin and overall thickness
3) Perform stain checks both before and after lehring
4) Complete all required dimensional measurements
5) Own and get line packing when a cullet situation arise
Qualifications:
- Experience in a 24/7 union manufacturing environment is desirable.
- One year of quality experience.
- Highly organized and capable of operating in a demanding environment.
- Must be highly motivated and results oriented.
- Ability to be a change agent in a fast-paced organization.
- Must be results focused with a commitment and desire to make an impact.
