Position Summary:
- Inspects for and determines sources and causes of all types of visual, and glass property defects in all types and sizes of finished goods and ware in process. This work includes such duties as:
- Obtain required ware specifications, drawings, ware samples, and equipment necessary to inspect assigned ware types.
- Performs all the prescribed sampling plan inspections, including visual for conformance to product specifications and carries out such tests as upshock (salt bath), downshock (water bath), drop, color, rim impact, center punch, etc. Uses such equipment, rim impactor, misc. hand tools, etc.
- Records findings on prescribed inspection forms and determines overall acceptability of ware on the basis of these findings through application of predetermined statistical sampling plans, reference to specifications, ware drawings, limit samples and other product quality information.
- Determines whether to pass, reject, or hold entire lots of ware and tags accordingly.
- Informs appropriate inspectors, operators, supervisors, or other persons as to trends and acceptability of ware being produces.
- May be called upon to perform a function that results in the generation of hazardous waste, and therefore may be required to attend relevant RCRA training.
Job Requirements:
