Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
- Assign appropriate ICD-9 codes to diagnoses and procedures based on established guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all coding regulations and standards, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) assignments.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accuracy in coding.
- Process medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and industry changes.
- Assist in the development of coding policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or equivalent. 2 yrs of experience in Medical Records
- Proven experience in medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-9 codes.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and medical records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to apply it accurately in coding tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
