What are the responsibilities and job description for the EXTRUSION TECHNICIAN - 1st Shift, 12-Hr Shifts, 6A - 6P position at Anchor Packaging LLC?
Extrusion Technician for 1st shift, 12-hour shifts, 6AM to 6PM, rotating 3-4-3 schedule.
Sets up and operates extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and customer requirements. Complies with all safety regulations and applies good judgement in safely performing all tasks, while meeting the safety, quality, efficiency, and scrap goals of the company.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
- Sets extruder operating parameters.
- Inspect the quality and correct any defects in the finished product.
- Notifies appropriate personnel when extruded product fails to meet standards.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures and amounts, dimensions and flow of materials or ingredients. Operates controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure or die gaps.
- Reviews work orders, specifications or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments for extruding plastic sheet.
- Examine, measure and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as micrometers or scales.
- Record and maintain production data such as meter readings and quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced.
- Move materials, supplies, components and finished product.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
- Follow documentation procedures and ensure paperwork is complete.
- Assist in training.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5 years of sheet extrusion experience preferably running clear or opaque PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) for thermoforming applications.
- Knowledge of making adjustments to the extrusion process including:
- Manipulating die bolts to make sheet gauge adjustments.
- Making extrusion process adjustments to control sheet gauge, width and finish.
- Operation and adjustment of the sheet coating process.
- Operation and adjustment of the pull rolls and sheet winder.
- In process screen changes.
- Knowledge of reading gauges including a digital caliper and micrometer.
- Knowledge of the blending, crystallizing and drying process.
- Must have an understanding of all GMP, AIB, and ISO procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
STANDING: Must be able to stand the entire shift.
BENDING: Must be able to bend to floor regularly.
REACHING: Must be able to reach overhead.
LIFTING: Must be able to lift 75 pounds regularly.
MANUAL
DEXTERITY: Must be able to type, adjust machine controls, and use hand tools.
VISION: Must be able to read written instructions and perform data entry.
HEARING: Must be able to hear machine malfunctions and communicate in a loud environment.
SPEECH: Must be able to communicate with coworkers.
