What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a civil or geotechnical engineer to support existing clients and help expand our environmental, civil, and water resources engineering practice in western North Carolina and the Southeast, while supporting projects nationally. We are particularly interested in an individual who can lead tasks or projects, is detail-orientated with critical thinking skills, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. Project/task management and client management experience is preferred. The ideal candidate would be able to perform technical work, including technical studies and engineering design work related to stormwater, water resources including restoration projects, and landfill cap repairs, as well as contractor management and construction oversight.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Perform and/or oversee technical analyses for projects that may include stormwater management projects, grading design, and water resources management including supply, conveyance, and storage, and/or hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling.
- Work with other specialists, including subconsultants and internal team members, related to stormwater, geotechnical, remediation, and restoration services.
- Develop and review design documents and supporting deliverables, including engineering drawings and calculations, technical specifications, and opinions of probable cost.
- Prepare and review written reports, technical studies, and permit applications.
- Perform task management, including team assignments and coordination, subcontractor management, develop of scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for projects, and manage their successful completion.
- Develop construction planning and observation documentation while providing construction oversight and management services.
- Visit project sites to perform site assessments and oversee construction for up to approximately 20-30% of time, with potential for occasional regional and national travel.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering or similar field.
- 8-15 years of experience in related engineering field
- PE licensure in North Carolina is desired, but consideration will be given to individuals on track to become licensed in 1 year
- Experience managing projects/tasks and interfacing with clients.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A willingness to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously, across disciplines internally and externally, adhere to deadlines, and work in a client service-oriented team environment.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A working knowledge of health and safety practices.
