What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time Senior Archaeologist in Seattle, Washington. The position will require regular archaeological field work and may also require some travel to participate in client meetings, public meetings, and stakeholder work groups. The successful candidate will have more than 8 years of experience conducting archaeological monitoring and investigations, as well as be responsible for preparing and implementing cultural resources planning and compliance documents for archaeological surveys, monitoring, inadvertent discovery plans, impact analysis and mitigation.

 

The successful candidate will report to the principal planner directing the cultural resources team and will collaborate with other senior cultural resources staff to complete archaeological work across a variety of landscapes and project types. Project assignments are highly variable and dynamic supporting public agencies, private companies, tribal organizations, and non-profit organizations in support of infrastructure development, environmental remediation, restoration, and climate resiliency. We are interested in a candidate who is collaborative, detail-orientated, and a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Responsibilities

The senior archaeologist will join Anchor QEA’s growing cultural resources team and act as a project manager and/or task manager on most project assignments. This work includes the following responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and direction to Anchor QEA project managers on the approach to addressing cultural resources for individual project assignments.
  • Lead and manage project tasks for cultural resource studies and reporting.
  • Develop study plans for cultural resources investigations and oversee work conducted by Anchor QEA field archaeologists.
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for cultural resources tasks.
  • Assist and inform federal consultation efforts under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Communicate with clients, agencies, other consultants, and the public.

 

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Master's degree (or bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience) in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Credentials that meet Secretary of Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards in the field of Archaeology.
  • Candidates with a mix of field and desk-based archaeological experience.
  • Ability to lead while collaborating effectively with co-workers and clients to achieve project objectives.
  • Experience preparing and implementing cultural resources planning and compliance documents for archaeological surveys, monitoring, inadvertent discovery plans, impact analysis and mitigation.
  • Interest in career development in the cultural resources/archaeological field in a variety of project roles and settings.

Salary and Other Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $108,300 - $121,800 annually 
  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.

 

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:

  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, vision, basic life, and AD&D insurance
  • Paid Company and Floating Holidays: 7 paid company and 2 floating holidays annually
  • Vacation: 2 weeks accrued paid vacation based on length of service. Vacation may vary by level.
