JOB SUMMARY :
The Class A Driver / Mechanic is responsible for all pick-up and delivery services for multiple project locations. Additionally, the candidate will be asked to carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on yard equipment to ensure that everything is always in good working condition. May be required to perform extra duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner. This will be a dual role and responsibility position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Loading / unloading freight according to OSHA rules of safety.
- Perform dock work efficiently.
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of location directions with extensive knowledge of area and industry locations.
- Delivers to proper locations in yard.
- Drives vehicle for pick- up and delivery services only.
- Maintains the order of vehicles with good housekeeping and little repairs.
- Communicates with Maintenance Department and Safety Department regarding vehicle health.
- Performs clerical functions incidental to delivery activities including logging movements.
- Occasional exercise of independent judgment regarding locales and order of daily itinerary.
- Logical and manageable dealings with conflicting demands, time pressure, deadlines and emergencies.
- Complete miscellaneous assignments and projects as directed.
- Routine servicing and overhauling of all yard equipment.
- Inspect, repair and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and other equipment.
