NOW HIRING - PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in New Bern, NC
We are actively hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to our expanding outpatient clinical team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients under the direction of an Occupational Therapist to maximize and/or improve their holistic performance of normal activities of daily living and beyond!
- Cleaning/sanitizing the outpatient clinic space in between visits.
- Comfortable with primarily in-clinic visits with intermittent outpatient home visits.
- Complete timely documentation (due within 72 hours) - no productivity % requirement!
- Establish rapport with patients and their families.
- Interpret medical language associated with treating the patient and be able to verbalize everything in plain language.
- Maintaining consistent communication with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Maintaining good daily communication with the supervising occupational therapist.
- Monitor patient response to interventions and consult with the supervising occupational therapist if modification is needed.
- Patient and family education for good carry over.
- Plan, monitor patient treatment and progress.
- Provide one-to-one patient care - No groups!
- Weekly supervision meeting regarding patient caseload
The applying Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) must feel comfortable treating adult patients/clients aged 18-100 year old with diagnoses such as:
- Arthritis (all types)
- Back Pain - Injuries - Rehabilitation
- Balance Issues / Falls Prevention
- Hand Therapy
- Lower Extremity Pain - Injuries - Rehabilitation
- Lymphedema
- Manual (Hands-On) Therapy
- Neurorehabilitation
- Neuropathy (all types)
- Orthopedic Injuries - Rehabilitation & Pain Management
- Shoulder Pain - Injuries - Rehabilitation
- Stroke (CVA) Rehabilitation
- Tendinitis (all types)
- Upper Extremity Pain - Injuries - Rehabilitation
- Vestibular Rehabilitation
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) therapy program.
- Licensed in the state of North Carolina
- Must be currently certified with the NBCOT
- U.S. Citizenship required
- 1 year of post-professional/work experience preferred
