Position Summary
ACBA is seeking an experienced and visionary Artistic Director to lead its artistic programming, training curriculum, and productions. The Artistic Director will oversee the artistic integrity of the academy, ensuring high standards of classical ballet training while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for students and faculty. This role is ideal for a passionate leader with a strong background in ballet instruction, choreography, and performance production.
Key Responsibilities
- Artistic Leadership: Develop and implement the artistic vision and programming for ACBA.
- Curriculum Oversight: Maintain and enhance ACBA’s ballet curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices in dance education.
- Faculty Management: Recruit, mentor, and supervise instructors to maintain a high level of teaching excellence.
- Student Development: Guide students’ technical and artistic growth through structured training and performance opportunities.
- Production Oversight: Direct and choreograph performances, including ACBA’s annual productions (e.g., The Nutcracker and spring productions).
- Community Engagement: Represent ACBA in the local and national dance community to build relationships and increase visibility.
- Administrative Duties: Work collaboratively with the ACBA administration, Executive Director and Board of Directors to support the academy’s mission, programming, and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience in ballet instruction, choreography, and artistic direction.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience working with students of various ages and skill levels.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Background in performance production and staging.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Must be willing to relocate to Anchorage. Relocation assistance provided.
