What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Paraprofessional position at Anchorage Cooperative Preschool?
Anchorage Cooperative Preschool is a play-based preschool program with a 50 year history of supporting students and families in Anchorage. We are seeking a creative, energetic, and caring individual to join our team as a paraprofessional.
Preference given to candidates who have:
- CDA or Early Childhood Education courses.
- 2 years of childcare experience (formal or informal).
- A creative and collaborative spirit.
- Strong team working and communication skills with adults and children.
- Familiarity and openness to play-based teaching styles.
- Clear background check and 3 references.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with teachers and other paraprofessionals to support preschool children in social-emotional learning.
- Use positive discipline techniques and model kindness and empathy in an inclusive classroom environment.
- Play and explore outdoors with children on our beautiful playground year-round.
- Support children's learning and development through connection and caring.
We believe in respect, building social-emotional skills and fostering a love of learning through play. We have a beautiful outdoor and indoor classroom and supportive staff. We also offer continuing education reimbursement and paid time off. Class hours are 8:30 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Thursday, and 9 AM - 2 PM on Fridays. We offer spring, summer and fall programs and thus are in school year-round.
