Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Assistant to join our oral surgery team. The ideal candidate will work closely with surgeons and other assistants in an office setting. This role requires a strong understanding of medical and dental terminology, as well as aseptic techniques to ensure the highest standards of patient care during surgical procedures.
Duties
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments are sterile and ready for use.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the surgical area, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with critical care tasks as needed during surgery.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety.
- Document relevant information accurately in patients' electronic medical records.
- Participate in pre-operative assessments and post-operative care as required.
- Stay updated on new surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices in hospital medicine.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and critical care practices is essential.
- Experience working in an Oral Surgery Center is preferred.
- Familiarity with emergency systems and protocols related to surgical procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant or similar credential is advantageous but not mandatory.
