Certified Medical Assistant

Essential Functions:

• Manage daily physician schedule.
• Chart Prep: Confirm all medical records and images relevant to purpose of the visit are in the chart. Obtain missing records, including images and downloading/uploading to the appropriate systems and patient chart. Complete the Chart Prep form in the patient’s Mosaiq record for follow-up appointments and CB4 appointments that are > one month from their last visit.
• Room new patients, follow-up patients, and re-evaluation patients.
• Prepare and room patients who are actively being treated and present for weekly visit with physician.
• Triage phone calls
• Patient Education: Treatment, side effects, psych/social awareness, referral to other community services as needed (support groups, nurse navigators, social worker, etc).
• Understand and be able to identify the common side effects by treatment region and help the patient to anticipate and coordinate the appropriate and timely interventions in conjunction with the patient’s radiation oncologist.
• Chart rounds preparation and attendance.
• Monitor Quality Check List for notification of incoming test results and studies
  Schedule and coordinate special procedures
• Set up and disinfect endoscope
• Assist with procedure and examinations
• Order supplies and stock exam rooms to ensure adequate inventory is available for each patient visit.
  Load prescriptions electronically for physician review; this would include refills and prior authorizations for medications.
• Fill out necessary forms and documentation for patients such as FMLA, disability, and DMV forms as able.
• Perform all other tasks and projects as delegated by the department manager
• Obtain insurance authorizations for special procedures as needed

Education, Certification and Licensure:

• Current CMA Certification
• Current BLS certification.
• Compliance with annual mandatory education.
• Compliance with annual immunization requirements.

Experience:

• No less than two (2) years of working experience as a certified medical assistant, medical assistant or similar.

Technical Competencies:

• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, , and other office procedures and terminology.
• Fluid navigation of Mosaiq or Center EMR.
• Fluid navigation of MIM for image maintenance.
• Acquire access and maintain currency with outside EMRs for obtaining records, imaging, etc.
• Master proficiency in all current and future business applications necessary to perform all required job functions.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens.
• Occasional travel between centers and within city is required.
• Frequent contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
• May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Physical Requirements:

• Work requires the ability to lift or push up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Work requires long periods of standing, and is subject to many interruptions.
• Work requires the employee to push, pull or lift objects and/or patients aided or unaided.
