Job Summary
The Teacher Expert, Instructional Support assists in providing an educational program that is responsive to student needs while addressing the goals and objectives of both the Anchorage School District and the school. The teacher expert remains abreast of best practices and shares with the instructional staff. The position encourages teachers to apply principles of learning and effective teaching methods that enable students to be actively engaged in the learning process. The teacher expert provides instructional classroom support by recommending, demonstrating, or modeling appropriate materials, technology, and resources to help meet the learning needs of all students. The teacher expert reports to and is evaluated by the site principal.
Job Requirements
The following are required:
Evidence Of Content Knowledge Shown By
a posted degree in the content area of this position; or
a posted minor in the content area of this position; or
passing Praxis Subject Assessments scores (formerly Praxis II) in the content area of this position; or
an endorsement in the content area of this position
The Following Are Preferred
A master's degree
Evidence Of The Following Skills And Abilities
Leadership skills and qualities
Ability to provide professional development opportunities to colleagues in a variety of formats
Interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
Experience in adult learning theory, coaching/mentoring scenarios
Excellent communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers and administrators
