Groomer
General Summary of Job
The groomer is responsible for ensuring all pets are properly groomed and finished using humane practices and minimizing pet stress. In addition, the groomer is responsible for maintaining the equipment, making sure the grooming supplies are stocked, and cleaning up the grooming room.
Primary Duties
-Greets each client with a smile and discusses their desires
-Communicates with clients pet’s grooming needs, behavior issues, and concerns
-Ensures completion as requested by client and makes sure it is described on the groom sheet
-Advises management when dogs are finished
-Observes pet’s coat condition and when necessary recommends shave downs versus dematting of pets.
-Ensures receptionist is advised of extra charges required for brush out/ dematting or flea dips
-Manages grooming schedule to ensure departure times are met
-Follows safety procedures for pets
-Assists in training bathers to improve their skill set
-Assists with dog skin or health issues within the facility
-Tells management when and what supplies are needed
-Tells President when equipment need repairing or replacing
-Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience
High School Graduate or GED
Professional Grooming school graduate
Good oral and written communication skills
Proven humane pet handling skills
Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
Self-motivated, independent worker
Ability to work in a team environment
Good decision and problem solving skills
Good organization and planning skills
Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
