Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Banquets Houseperson to join the hotel’s opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. Opening in early 2025, the property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami. Spanning 25,000 square feet of innovative indoor and outdoor event space, Andaz Miami Beach will become a landing spot for guests and locals seeking celebratory gatherings that embrace the city's culture of music, art, and fashion.
Position Summary
The Houseperson - Events is responsible for setting up and breaking down all meeting spaces with tables/chairs/water, etc and ensuring client specifications are met in regards to room set up and general requests from team. Maintaining a positive attitude and professional work ethic is important while interacting with guests and everyday work.
Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
- Set up event room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, service ware, linen.
- Attend pre-shift before events begin in order to learn function particulars, including hotel and guest expectations.
- After the function, reset event room in accordance with the supervisor/leader specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions.
- Dispose of trash and waste as needed and maintain cleanliness in the event spaces before, during and after the event
- Work collaboratively with Banquet Captains, Stewarding and other team members to ensure smooth event setups and efficient operations.
- Ensure all furniture and equipment are properly handled and returned in a safely manner to the proper storage area after use.
- Perform other related functions that may be assigned.
Qualifications
Houseperson - Events Services Requirements and Qualifications
- High school Diploma and/or certificate in relevant training.
- Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food and beverage preparations as well as etiquette
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service is preferred. Hotel experience is preferred.
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight;
- Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with cooks and other staff.
- A valid food badge
- Refined verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; weekends, holidays, overnight shifts
- Well-groomed, professional appearance.
