The Role
As a member of the Alternative Investment Funds practice, Directors oversee the efforts of multiple client service teams on engagements for a variety of clients, including hedge funds, private equity, fund of funds, and venture capital. Directors plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; market, design, and implement tax-planning strategies; and manage budgets. Directors conduct secondary reviews of complex tax returns related to alternative investments for both national and foreign entities. They maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively. Directors are responsible for managing, developing, training, and mentoring Associates and Managers on tax projects, and assessing performance for engagement reviews.
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers competitive base compensation, a benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program based on individual and firm performance metrics. For individuals hired to work in Northern California, the expected salary range for this role is $195,000 to $337,300; the actual salary offer can vary based on employee qualifications.

Compensation : In addition to competitive base compensation, our firm offers annual discretionary bonuses based on firm and individual performance, a discretionary long-term cash incentive program, and other forms of discretionary compensation.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required;
- Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree preferred;
- Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service required (i.e., CPA or JD);
- At least 8 years relevant work experience with an accounting firm, including at least 4 years of Alternative Investment Funds experience;
- Proven leadership and strong organizational skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural facilitator;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Proficient use of technology including MS Excel.
