The Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum Foundation (AAIBMF) is an independent nonprofit which fundraises, operates social enterprises, advocates and promotes while also serving as a support organization for the Balloon Museum.The Balloon Museum is dedicated to preserving the history and promoting the future of ballooning through captivating exhibits, educational programs, and community engagement. Both the Balloon Museum and the Balloon Museum Foundation aim to inspire a passion for ballooning and its rich heritage, fostering relationships and a deeper understanding of its science, art, and cultural significance. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to guide the Foundation into its next chapter.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum Foundation and reports to the Board of Directors. This individual will provide strategic leadership, oversee operations, manage finances, cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and primarily spearhead fundraising efforts to advance the Foundation's mission and vision and support the Balloon Museum’s exhibitions and education programs. The Executive Director will be a passionate advocate for the Foundation, its programs, and its impact on the community and the Balloon Museum.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Inspire passion for the Foundation's mission among all stakeholders – staff, board, volunteers, and donors – through compelling storytelling and engagement.
- Model exemplary leadership through decision-making, supervision skills, and communication.
Growing Resources & Fundraising:
- Serve as the chief fundraiser, developing fundraising strategies.
- Implement donor stewardship strategies to cultivate long-term relationships.
- Serve as chief entrepreneur to lead the strategies of the Balloon Museum Shoppe and large scale fundraising events especially during Balloon Fiesta.
Board & Partner Relations:
- Cultivate a strong, trusting partnership with the Board of Directors, providing them with the resources, information, and training.
- Cultivate a strong working relationship with Balloon Museum Leadership and Staff, City of Albuquerque staff and Museum Trustees.
Vision and Strategy:
- Partner with the board and staff to develop a compelling vision for the future, securing the human and financial resources needed to achieve it.
- Develop annual plans with specific goals, strategies, and tactics to ensure accountability and progress.
Management:
- Lead, manage, and retain a high-performing, diverse staff team dedicated to the Foundation's mission.
- Establish effective decision-making processes at all levels.
- Ensure the organization's financial health and transparent communication of financial information to relevant parties.
Impact:
- Implement effective program evaluation systems and adapt programs as needed.
- Foster a spirit of innovation and explore new ideas to enhance existing programs.
Planning & New Business:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for fundraising growth, including donor research, partnership development, and fundraising.
- Cultivate relationships with funders, political leaders, and community stakeholders in new markets.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
- College or advanced degree, with at least 3 years of senior management experience.
- Strong fundraising and social entrepreneurship skills.
- Track record of effectively leading and scaling an organization regionally.
- Experience developing and implementing growth strategies.
- Commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation.
- Excellence in organizational management, including staff coaching and supervision, team development, and budget management.
- Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors.
- Excellent marketing, public relations, and communication skills.
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, and innovative approach to business planning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
- Positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
