Job Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for taking samples, observing, and testing a variety of materials from all stages of the production process, using physical, and instrumental techniques. Evaluating the test results against internal and external specifications. The Quality Control Technician is also responsible for reporting noncompliance and taking action to preserve the integrity of our products.
- Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
- Validate that the proper components and materials are used.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain production tools and testing equipment.
- Record test results and report them to management.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions.
- Collaborate with plant employees and build and maintain relationships with customers.
- Build and maintain relationships with plant employees and customers.
- Accurately sample and perform physical properties tests on all types of raw materials, in-process, and finished products following established laboratory guidelines, SOP, or consensus standards.
- Effectively document, interpret and communicate analysis results within the context of the production facilities to maintain product quality.
- Assist with tasks in other departments as needed.
- Monitor test results of raw materials, in-process and finished goods for trends and adherence to specifications.
- Report noncompliance immediately to affected departments and take action to maintain compliance with specifications when necessary.
- Follow the required industrial hygiene, legislative and plant requirements.
- Familiar with the operation, safety features, and manuals of all laboratory instruments, machines, and tools.
- Maintain housekeeping of sampling locations.
- Responsible for minor repairs on laboratory equipment, facilities, and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure a workplace culture of safety through workplace inspection and watching out for others.
- Maintain chemical solutions, laboratory instruments, standardization or calibration schedule, and a clean work environment.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Strong basic math skills
- Good computer literacy – ability to learn computerized analysis equipment and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- High School Diploma or GED
Job Qualifications:
- Quality Control experience in a manufacturing or mining plant is a plus but not required
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have valid drivers' licenses.
- Must be able to work outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and must be able to work independently with integrity.
- Ability to complete required paperwork and mathematical assignments in a scientific format and in the required time frame.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills. Demonstrated skills entering and retrieving data in a Microsoft based computer system.
- Must be a safe employee, excellent attendance, and outstanding quality of work.
- Must be able to work at heights of 75 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Must be able to pass background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds or more.
- Must be able to work rotating shift work if required. Rotating days of week and rotating between days if required.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to pass random drug test during employment
- Able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Able to pass all required certifications for test procedures required in a 4 to 6-month period after being hired.
