Anderson County Library is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper to work an average of 20-25 hours per week. Responsibilities will be maintaining the grounds and hardscape areas of all locations, ensuring they are safe, clean, and visually appealing.

Works under the supervision of the Head of Maintenance.

Responsibilities
Maintains the outside areas of the Anderson County Library System, including all branch locations. Duties include, but not limited to:
- Removal of trash and debris from outdoor areas.
- Prepares soil and plants grass, shrubs, trees, and flowers.
- Installs and maintains fences, gates, retaining walls, gardens, lighting, and other design features.
- Keeps outdoor furniture clean and in good repair.
- Applies mulch, fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Maintains green spaces by weeding, trimming, raking, and pruning.
- Removes unwanted or unhealthy plants, shrubs, and trees, as well as downed limbs.
- Operates hand tools and power equipment needed to perform necessary maintenance tasks.
- Assists with inclement weather needs including prevention, cleanup, and/or repair. (i.e. floods, snow, ice, wind, etc.)
- Performs regular inspections of all ACLS properties to ensure grounds are presentable, identify potential hazards, and make repairs.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Works with other maintenance crew and contractors as needed.
- Assists with regular maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
- Other light maintenance duties as needed. (i.e. pressure washing, painting, etc.)
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies and communicates need for restocking.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with other maintenance workers, management, and staff and work closely with them on all special maintenance projects.
- Assists with irrigation systems as needed.
- Fill in other positions within Maintenance and Housekeeping as needed.
- Maintains safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- One (1) year of groundskeeping/lawn care experience required.
- Experience in building maintenance and/or housekeeping preferred.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in using power tools and outdoor equipment.
- Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in grounds maintenance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, employees, branch managers and system personnel; ability to work in a team environment as well as independent work.
- Ability to endure seasonal temperatures and conditions.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and have a clean driving record.
- Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.

Hand tools and power equipment including but not limited to: edgers, trimmers, pruners, mowers, shovels, pressure washers, shears, rakes, wheelbarrow, blowers, trimmers, sprayers, etc.
