Description:
Anderson County Library is seeking a part-time clerk to work an average of 20-25 hours per week to assist in maintaining the building and grounds of all locations, ensuring they are safe, clean, and visually appealing. Responsibilities include:
- Removal of trash and debris from outdoor areas.
- Prepares soil and plants grass, shrubs, trees, and flowers.
- Installs and maintains fences, gates, retaining walls, gardens, lighting, and other design features.
- Keeps outdoor furniture clean and in good repair.
- Applies mulch, fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Maintains green spaces by weeding, trimming, raking, and pruning.
- Removes unwanted or unhealthy plants, shrubs, and trees, as well as downed limbs.
- Assists with the inspecting buildings and grounds to determine areas requiring attention; assists with inspecting library interiors and troubleshooting equipment; assists with ensuring that preventative maintenance is performed on a regular basis.
- Assists in ensuring that Library vehicles are properly maintained and kept in good repair, including the Bookmobile.
- Assists with monitoring air conditioning and heating control systems (HVAC) and prepares checklists for building controls: replaces HVAC filters as needed.
- Adjusts, cleans and performs minor mechanical work on grounds equipment.
- Assists with inclement weather needs including prevention, cleanup, and/or repair. (i.e. floods, snow, ice, wind, etc.)
- Identifies and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Works with other maintenance crew and contractors as needed.
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies and communicates need for restocking.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with other maintenance workers, management, and staff and work closely with them on all special maintenance projects.
- Assists with irrigation systems as needed.
- Fill in other positions within Maintenance and Housekeeping as needed.
- Maintains safe work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- One (1) year of facility maintenance experience required.
- Proficient in using power tools and outdoor equipment.
- Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in facilities maintenance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, employees, branch managers and system personnel; ability to work in a team environment as well as independent work.
- Ability to endure seasonal temperatures and conditions.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and have a clean driving record.
- Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
