JOB GOAL : To provide all students with an enriched media center environment containing a wide variety and range ofmaterials that will invite intellectual growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take fulladvantage of media center resourcesPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.2. Coordinates with teachers to plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons that link information literacy, technology education, and content.3. Supports and plans the work of media center clerks, volunteers, and / or student assistants and provides training as needed.4. Implements a budget to meet the long and short range plans for building and maintaining the collection and the program.5. Creates and maintains a safe, inviting, and attractive physical environment with areas for individual and group use to meet the diverse needs of the members of the learning community, regardless of disability or other differences.6. Implements a continuous library resource collection development and evaluation process.7. Ensures that materials are current, accurate, diverse, developmentally appropriate and aligned with curriculum content standards and the school's instructional program.8. Maintains a centralized system for bibliographic control and maintains statistical data and appropriate records.9. Provides professional development for teachers in technology education, information literacy, literature and other related library media services.10. Provides a lifelong love of reading, learning and appreciation of literature and other creative expressions of information.11. Provides ITV information and coordinates utilization of ITV resources.12. Facilitates the maximum use of information through outside sources.13. Provides firmness in managing behaviors of students in the media center.14. Serves on key decision making committees in the school (curriculum, technology, strategic planning, facilities planning, staff development).15. Follows and implements the district policies in regard to challenged materials.16. Implements a public relations / advocacy program that promotes literacy and the use of the library information center's services and resources.17. Models and promotes the principles of intellectual freedom and the ethical and legal use of information.18. Participates in staff development programs.19. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 190 days. Salary to be determined by the salary schedule established by the Board.font-size : 12pt">
