About the Role
We are willing to train you! We have outstanding opportunities in our production and distribution facilities in Des Moines, IA. Most of our job openings in the plant and distribution facilities are General Utility Operators. These job openings typically work a swing shift (all shifts). Word schedule(s) could vary from week to week and may include weekends. This is a full-time on-site role, with the ability to work additional overtime.
- Experience with equipment operation, preferably in the food industry, but not required
- Understanding and adherence to quality control procedures
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with team members
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve production line issues
- Good record-keeping skills to accurately document operations
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is a plus
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Job Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):
- Responsible for pulling products for customer orders.
- Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment (when certified).
- May use hand-held tracking devices.
- Report any product/packaging issues.
- Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Follow all required work-safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Ensure proper code date rotation.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a refrigerated work area.
- Continually movement of empty and full cases and stacks, within the warehouse by using a hook. Individual cases will weigh 48 lbs., with full stacks weighing up to 288 lbs.
- Frequent lifting and lowering of cases to and from pick bays.
- Bending, squatting, and twisting of the body will occur while moving products regularly.
Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- You must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, lifting/ physical capacity test, and a background check. The reputation of our company is very important and we expect our employees to be the same.
- Must be able to communicate in English (Verbal, Reading, Writing).
