Description
The primary function of the Lab Assistant is to collect blood and other specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site.
- Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays.
- Orders lab tests in the computer with Medical Necessity.
- Receives laboratory specimens and checks orders for accuracy.
- Fax results and answer phones.
Requirements
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Certification/Licensure: BLS certification required.
Experience Requirements:
Paramedical training preferred.
Working Conditions: Exposure Category I tasks require appropriate protective measures to prevent exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
Salary : $16 - $23
