Adoption & Resource Consultant

Are you passionate about animals and want an instrumental part in helping change their lives? Anderson Humane’s South Elgin shelter is looking for dedicated Adoption and Resource Consultants who can help our adorable animals find their forever homes.

What you’ll do   

·         Welcome our guests, being ready and able to fulfill their requests and assist with anything they need.

·         Toggle between a variety of online programs to gather what you need to provide superior service.

·         Get to know the animals and stay up to date on their status in our population.

·         Chat up potential adopters and introduce them to a few furry friends; one that just may be a wonderful fit into their family.  

·         Make that “love connection” official by assisting our guests through our adoption process spreading the good word about Anderson Humane’s mission, Fear Free methodology, and the importance of enrichment and training.

·         Process adoptions while keeping detailed and accurate financial and database records.

Isn’t everyone excited to meet like-minded friends? Our Consultants regularly lend a hand at our Bloomingdale adoption center too!      

What to expect

·         A lively environment with animals of all sizes and characters!

·         Staying active throughout your day: walking, standing, and occasionally lifting (up to 50 pounds with help).

·         Our Consultants start at $16.00 per hour. Add another $1.00 per hour for Spanish fluency.

·         A flexible part-time schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This role’s hours at South Elgin are Monday through Friday: 11:30 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday 10:30 am – 6:30 pm, and Sunday 10:30 am – 5:30 pm.

What we’re looking for

·         At least a year in customer service.

·         Strong communication skills that showcase warmth and inclusivity.

·         Are highly comfortable learning new software programs.

·         Professionalism even in high-emotion situations.

·         A natural ability to juggle tasks and prioritize.

All volunteers and staff of Anderson Humane must understand and accept that, even though all reasonable accommodations are made to support the physical and emotional health of our shelter animals, there are situations in which animals must be euthanized.
