Overview
Responsible for planning and directing molding, staking, and assembly operation for the assigned shift following prescribed objectives and quality standards, set-up and break down production orders, and train associates in work methods, procedures, quality standards, and safety. This position reports to the Production Manager.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee molding operation on assigned shift to maximize quality output and efficiency while meeting customer requirements.
- Train associates, including temporary employees in proper work methods, procedures, quality and safety to meet production requirements.
- Maintain equipment to minimize down time; troubleshoot quality and process issues as required
- Monitor production orders to maintain cost and quality standards and adjust process as necessary to keep production going, reporting any discrepancies to appropriate person.
- Actively participate in the providing performance input of shift employees to the production manager.
- Participate as member of a project team and/or cross-functional team as required.
- Support lean project implementations on shift.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with additional technical training and experience in molding machine set-up and operation.
- 3-5 years’ experience in related field with experience in providing shift employees lead and direction on shift work.
- Need initiative and hands-on experience to resolve problems, able to work as member of a team, and knowledge of computer systems required.
- Must have the knowledge of OSHA and other federal and state regulations.
- Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry between 10-50 lbs. consistently with a minimum of five to six times in an hour, and weights up to 300 lbs. using hand trucks.
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods.
- This position requires repetitive reaching, stretching, lifting and twisting.
- Working conditions include some dust, dirt, noise, with restricted workspaces, but not to the point of being objectionable
- Must keep production floor neat and clean at all times.
