Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing services for new and redesigned products including the selection and implementation of lean processes, new equipment, new tooling and new manufacturing techniques into production. This position also determines lean, product, equipment, and process improvements in order to reduce cost, scrap, rework, maintenance, and set‑up. This position will also work closely with the new product development team. Reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering.

Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing services for new and redesigned products including the selection and implementation of lean processes, new equipment, new tooling and new manufacturing techniques into production. This position also determines lean, product, equipment, and process improvements in order to reduce cost, scrap, rework, maintenance, and set‑up. This position will also work closely with the new product development team. Reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- New Product Projects
- Responsible for scheduling, budgeting and completing assigned responsibilities for New Product Projects.
- Responsible for timely and accurate cost information, reviewing the design for manufacturing, concurrent engineering, reviewing the design specifications for completeness and reviewing the impact the product will have on each production department.
- Responsible for the conceptual design, ordering and implementation of tooling in a timely manner.
- Responsible for coordinating the tooling, material, equipment and methods for processing the new product in order to produce the desired quality at the lowest cost.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining the Production Documentation Package.
- Lean Process Development and Trouble-shooting
- Lead Kaizens implementing lean tool including 5S, Poke Yoke, Visual Management, TPM, Quick Change, Single Piece Flow and Kanban.
- Review existing products and processes making changes to reduce scrap, rework, direct labor costs, set‑up, quality cost and lead time.
- Conduct experiments to determine optimum manufacturing processes.
- Prepare cost analysis for justification of new or reworked tooling.
- Trouble-shoot tooling, processes and equipment both internally and externally for all assigned products.
- Schedule and budgeting process projects.
- Responsible for the conceptual design, ordering and implementation of tooling in a timely manner.
- Capital Equipment
- Investigate, specify, and economically justify the purchase of new capital equipment.
- Coordinate installation and introduction of new equipment and processes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A B.S. degree in an engineering related field or technology (e.g. BSME, BSGE, or BSIE)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in related job positions.
- Must have a broad knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing processes, materials, equipment, and tools.
- Able to identify and manage capital and new product projects from concept to implementation and successfully drive project results.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Project Management experience preferred.
