TITLE: Teaching AssistantREPORTS TO: Principal
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Under supervision of the classroom teacher, prepares for and assists with classroom activities.2. Works with small groups of students to reinforce learning of material initially introduced by the classroom teacher.3. Assists the teacher in devising unique strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on asympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.4. Assists individual children in need of special attention.5. Performs clerical duties for the classroom teacher.6. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.7. Assists teachers with non-instructional classroom duties such as snack, lunch, clean-up, andclothing routines.8. Checks notebooks, papers, and make-up work.9. Assists in maintaining appropriate student behavior.10. Assists with the maintenance of accurate, complete, and current records on the continuous progress of students.11. Assists in drills or practice work.12. Assists with reading and storytelling.13. Assists in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.14. Assists teachers in supervising class change, playground, study hall,cafeteria, assemblies, emergency drills, field trips, and bus loading activities.15. Under the direction of teachers, effectively utilize planning time.16. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.17. Maintains confidentiality concerning student records and data.18. Participates in staff development activities provided by the school district.19. Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 days; salary based on district salary scheduleEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance withprovisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Personnel.
