The Office of Admissions at Anderson University seeks a self-starter who is both relationship-driven and a problem solver to join our undergraduate recruitment team. The Senior Admissions Counselor position promotes Anderson University and its programs to prospective students and their communities. This role manages a caseload of` college-bound students, primarily assisting students in understanding their options at AU and how to successfully navigate the steps of the enrollment process. Assigned caseloads are typically organized around geographic territories and academic programs, and are structured to support the counselor to identify, recruit, admit, and transition prospective students successfully into the University programs and student community.
Successful admission counselors possess strong case management skills and offer consistent communication and relevant engagement with students and their communities. Additionally, they participate in the travel and outreach strategies of the Office of Admissions and assist in providing an exceptional visitor experience through the university welcome center.
Responsibilities
- Advise prospective students about the admissions process and opportunities of Anderson University
- Provide a high-quality visitor and customer experience through our university welcome center
- Engage in university travel recruitment, including attending college fairs, high school visits, and individual student appointments
- Achieve recruitment goals and participate in regular, open communication and planning about goals, obstacles, and tools for caseload management
- Develop and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, school counselors, alumni, campus colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure the highest level of service and support
- Cultivate and utilize a high level of knowledge about the Anderson University student experience including areas such as academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities
- Demonstrate and prioritize high-quality communications and outreach, including calls, texts, emails, in-person, campus visit experiences, and more
- Contribute to a positive and high-performance team culture within the Office of Admissions
- Use the University's CRM software to assist prospective students through the matriculation process
- Leverage predictive modeling through Admission CRM and other methods to enhance targeted outreach and intervention strategy
- Implement deposit strategies to encourage commitment from admitted students
- Represent Anderson University at events on and off campus as necessary
- Must be comfortable with presenting to both small and large groups at various events
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven experience working with and speaking to young adults
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver information effectively and persuasively
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and G Suite
- Ability to accurately assess the needs and priorities of a diverse population of individuals and groups
- Ability to utilize appropriate methods to guide or facilitate a decision-making process
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have strong time management and organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work in a multi-tasked, goal oriented and deadline driven environment
- Work requires tact, discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends
- Valid drivers license, with ability to qualify to use university vehicles or access to reliable transportation to complete travel requirements
- Some light lifting related to travel and events
- Successful completion of background screening
- Must meet University lifestyle expectations
Highly Desired
- Three months to 1 year of experience in higher education or relevant field
- Bilingual preferred
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft or Student First platforms as well as Slate CRM are preferred
