SUMMARY

The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role is also responsible for managing the workers compensation program, training associates, and partnering with outside vendors, associates, and management to promote a culture of safety within Andis.

  • Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.

EHS:

  • Coordinate and monitor all aspects of the worker’s compensation program.
  • Proactively partner with medical providers to ensure proper care and facilitate employees’ return to work.
  • Work with supervisors and managers to accommodate employees on restricted duty.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with worker’s compensation carrier on all accidents.
  • Assist with reasonable accommodations, return-to-work, and other employee health and wellness issues.
  • Identifies, monitors, and ensures compliance with regulations (OSHA, DOT, and EPA). Monitors federal, state, and local legislation.
  • Establish relationships and collaborate with all departments to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage waste disposal and wastewater treatment program.
  • Receive and record all accident reports and maintain injury records by location.
  • Conduct accident investigations and review near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Coordinate all aspects of safety and OSHA training programs.
  • Update off work and restricted duty logs and maintain OSHA 300 log by location for annual posting and other reporting.
  • Maintain safety incentive program, and continually benchmark ways to promote continuous improvement in EHS practices and culture.
  • Lead the safety committee and provide monthly reporting on various safety metrics.
  • Observe plant operations and conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency response plans and drills, and coordinate First Responder program.

Misc.

  • Assists visitors to the HR department with general questions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and wellness programs to ensure compliance.
  • Comply with company HIPAA policies and procedures, ensuring PHI, ePHI, and PII is protected
  • Complete HIPAA training as necessary and appropriate in order to carry out job responsibilities in compliance with HIPAA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus three years equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ practical experience in a safety position, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, and ANSI requirements.
  • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required. HRIS and reporting experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to solve problems and influence others.
  • Self-motivator with the ability to set goals, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.
  • Minimal travel required, and occasionally may need to work outside of normal work schedule.
