What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator - 2nd Shift position at Andis Company?
Utilizes various metal working machinery to produce components. Machine operators may be called upon to use a variety of manual, automatic, and computerized equipment including but not limited to punch presses, mills, drills, tapping machines, grinders, sanders, or other miscellaneous equipment that may cut, bend, or manipulate metal. This position starts at $21.86 / hr with a $1.50 / hr shift differential)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES; Other duties may be assigned
- Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.
- Material Handling : Move, stage, or store parts using hand carts. Manually lift parts bins to work area, carts, or pallets when appropriate. When trained and approved, utilize hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts to assist in machine setup, tear down, or materials movement.
- Job Preparation and Setup : Per routings, may be responsible for selecting and applying proper belts, wheels, wear plates, grits, taps, inserts, holders, etc. to perform minor setup or adjustments or otherwise ready the work operation. May need to adjust machine speeds. May require use of hand tools.
- Machine Operation : Follow established procedures to load and unload parts. Use buttons, levers, or foot pedals as appropriate to activate machinery. Observe machine operation for proper operation.
- Inspection : Visually inspect work pieces to detect flaws. Where required, measure work piece with micrometers, calipers, and / or other gauges and complete IPS sheets.
- Clean Up : Perform minor machine cleaning such as removing scrap metal from coolant screens and worktables as prescribed. Keep the area neat and orderly.
- Safety : Responsible for ensuring all guarding is in place and operational prior to running equipment. Responsible for reporting abnormalities and abiding by all safety procedures.
- Miscellaneous : As requested, participate in problem solving groups, experimental operations, or new equipment task groups.
